Champions League football gets the ball rolling for another busy midweek of sporting action. ### European football Manchester United and Aston Villa play glamorous Champions League ties on Tuesday. Michael Carrick’s team have home advantage against Roma, but odds of 7/5 for them to win suggest there isn’t much market confidence in them to arrest their recent run of bad form. Villa have won all three league-phase matches but are 9/1 to extend that sequence when they visit Barcelona. On Wednesday, all three English clubs are odds-on to win on the road: Liverpool (4/7) at Fenerbahce, Manchester City (4/7) at RB Leipzig and Arsenal (1/4) at Slavia Prague. The pick of Thursday’s Europa League ties are Crystal Palace vs Hoffenheim, for which the Eagles are 19/20 favourites, and Sparta Prague vs Bournemouth, where the Cherries are 8/15 to make it four wins out of four. Elsewhere, Celtic and Sunderland host Besiktas and Dinamo Zagreb respectively, and in the Conference League, Hearts travel to Thun and Brighton visit Getafe in Spain. ### Premier League Everton face Coventry City at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Friday and the Sky Blues, managed by former Everton boss Frank Lampard, are 7/2 to earn a second away win of the season. ### Golf On the PGA Tour, Americans Ryan Gerard, Ben Griffin and Jackson Koivun are 16/1 joint favourites for the World Wide Technology Championship at El Cardonal in Mexico. ### Tennis The new men’s world No.1 Alexander Zverev is the top seed for this week’s ATP Paris Masters, while on the WTA Tour, hopes of a British victory are carried by Katie Boulter. ### Racing Exeter’s loss proves Aintree’s gain, unraceable conditions at the south-west course meaning Friday’s card is moved to the north west. ### Other sport F1: Practice gets under way on Friday for Sunday’s Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo. NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars at Baltimore Ravens opens Wk9 in the early hours of Friday. Rugby union: The Nations Championship resumes on Friday with Ireland vs Argentina.
