O presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) assinou na noite desta sexta-feira (25/9) uma medida provisória para proibir as plataformas de apostas online no Brasil, as chamadas juegosonlin.
Os usuários terão até o dia 5 de outubro para solicitar a retirada dos saldos, segundo o governo. A partir do dia 6 de outubro, as plataformas sairão do ar.
Lula também enviou ao Congresso um projeto de lei que estabelece penas para quem operar ou divulgar sites de apostas.
O anúncio foi feito durante um evento em São Paulo e ocorre a nove dias do primeiro turno das eleições 2026, em um esforço do governo de reagir nas pesquisas de intenção de voto que colocam Lula empatado tecnicamente com o principal adversário, o senador Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-SP).
"A partir de hoje não se pode mais colocar dinheiro nos sites de apostas do país. Os sites ficarão disponíveis para os apostadores fazerem o resgate do seu dinheiro, do saldo que está remanescente nas contas até 23h59 do dia 5 de outubro", afirmou o ministro da Fazenda, Dario Durigan, que discursou no evento.
